Inter-University Musical Theatre Competition 2017

(November 2017, University of Warwick)

Dan was the Director for the University of Birmingham’s entry to the Inter-University Musical Theatre competition which took place in November 2017. This role was largely dramaturgical, as when given the theme ‘Through the Ages’, He worked alongside Musical Director Alice Brown to create a medley of songs that told a narrative with an eight-strong female cast – which explored the story of women’s roles in musical theatre history. This also involved ensuring the structure told a story that stayed relevant to the specific song but also made sense overall. Birmingham won ‘Best Ensemble’ and ‘Best Concept’ at this competition.
